Lutheran Women's Missionary League (click here for LWML website.)

Since 1942, the LWML has affirmed each woman's identity as a child of God and her relationship with Jesus Christ, encouraged and equipped Christian women to live out their lives in active mission ministries, and supported missions around the world through their sacrificial gifts of mites, tithes, offerings, and tireless service.

Sunday School

The Sunday School children were busy putting together 36 necklaces that are to be shared with the children receiving the special shoeboxes.  The color of beads used in the necklace tell the story of our Christian life.

Purple - reminds us of the royalty of God.

“Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever.  Amen.”  1 Timothy 1:17

Black - reminds us of our sin which separates us from God and dooms us to eternal darkness.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”Romans 3:23

Red – Christ's blood shed for you and me.

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!” Romans 5:8-9.

White – Our sins are forgiven and we are washed “White as Snow.”

“Come now, let us reason together,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” Isaiah 1:18

Blue – reminds us of water used in our baptism.

“There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called—one Lord, one faith, one baptism.”  Ephesians 4:4-5

Green – We are to continue to grow in our faith and in God’s Word.

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.  2 Peter 3:18

Yellow/Gold - Eternal life with Jesus in heaven.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  John 3:16

The knot reminds us that God planned you, and you will never be separated from Him.

“I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish;  no one can snatch them out of my hand.”  John 10:28

The children were all excited about taking their special shoeboxes home and started working on filling it up with special gifts.

Anyone, young or adult, could take part in this program.  They could pick up a box at church and follow the directions that are included in the box.  The link “Operation Christmas Child” could be accessed for more information and to see stories and videos of children who have received these shoeboxes in the past.

These boxes were collected the first week of November.

The boxes have been filled and are on their way!

On Sunday, May 28, 2017, the Sunday School students assembled hand-made cards to send to those who currently serve or have served in the military.

The Sunday School children celebrated Reformation on Oct. 29. The LWML ladies came and talked about Martin Luther and nailing 95 Theses on the door of Castle Church in Wittenberg. Germany. Then the children threw pieces of paper with the words "Indulgences" written on them so show that we don't pay of our forgiveness. Then they heard about the "Diet of Worms" and how Luther took a stand and said what he had written was true and said "Here I stand" He was not going to take back what he had written. Then the children had a relay race in carrying gummy worms. We closed the morning by singing the song for the Convocation in Washington High School.
